RetroLog.net Beta Starts Today

Retrolog.net

You really should read this!

Some of you might have read about RetroLog before, but let me rewrite the whole idea about the project. This way you will understand what the idea is and what the future should hold. First of all this projects is a mix of ideas that I’ve had over the past few years, due to lack of time many projects already have been realized by other persons and grew surprisingly big. but what was, was, and what is, is. so I present you Retrolog.net!

The main idea is to create an closed community of “special people” who are good in doing their thing, online and offline, a place where artist, programmers, designers, bloggers can discuss their thing in private without the whole world can see it, and you can only see it if you get invited, to be invited you have to catch the eye of one of the administrators.

Need Beta Testers.

yes that is right, to fully test it I need a small crowd! If you think you meet the requirements written below then you should really apply and leave a message on this article, (I will contact you on email and send the invitation code.)

Whats in it for me

Nothing! With this project I will loose money and time. time I could use playing soccer or have a few beers with my friends, but at the same time I really would like to be able to read some content online without having to bother about advertisement or about “make money online” all the time. I’m paying tho hosting for Retrolog from earnings from some private projects I am working on. “Think of it as a forum with only the best of the best, but different.

The Advantages for you

  • You don’t have to worry about anything.
  • You can share ideas in a small group without the whole world knowing about it.
  • You can be sure that the fellow members are people who know their “thing”. and not some weirdo you see on all the forums acting like a fool and scamming/spamming all around.
  • Share thoughts and news about anything you want EXCEPT “making money online”. you can talk about affiliate programs and related but not focused on “monetizing your blog or website”. The whole idea behind this project is to be sincere, if you want to know how to make money online google it!

Requirements

  • Must have a blog or website (not hosted with blogger, blogspot or something similar).
  • Your blog may not be focused on MMO (make money online) or Monetizing your website or Adultery.
  • Your blog must be genuine, own written content and in English. (of course you can be from anywhere on the world).
  • You have to be friendly, helpful, joyful, cheerful, willing to share inside a community.
  • You must have your thing. design/coding/art/be geek/writing/sports/blogging and so on!

What you get in return

  • nice profile page like this one, many more features will be added soon.
  • Genuine content/idea’s/insights from fellow community members.
  • The possibility to get/give quality help for free by fellow community members.
  • There is much more, but those ideas/and features will only be shared with those who are accepted to the community ( You won’t be disappointed ! ).

So if you think you have what it takes to join, leave a reply, and also provide your webite url so it can be reviewed, If I like it you’re in, if not then I’m sorry, maybe next time, I will however mail you with the reason why I declined your website. If you get accepted you will be send the invitation code.

Project RetroLog: theme has been made

preview2.png

Tonight I didn’t feel like programming so I decided to work on the theme/layout for RetroLog.net, although the core is far from finished, I had just enough to run a local demo and prepare a design. now 4 hours later I think I’ve a final version for the theme.

I’ve chosen for a clean dark/black design with soft night-blue and some green to break the design. It doesn’t look very web 2.0-ish and no cool graphics to stare at, but I want to honor the name of the project and keep it minimalistic and retro like websites once looked like. lets say it has to be a little ugly to be beautiful.

If nothing goes wrong a first beta will be launched around the first week in april, website will start as an invitation only for the first month to debug the main part, after that registration will open to the masses and everyone can start using it. If you would like to be invited for the beta just leave a comment.

Project: RetroLog , the minimalistic blog project

I’ve this project in my mind, and roughly projected it on paper, with some php/mysql snippets. The whole idea is to make a REAL blog community with pure server-side programming. minimalistic so it can be used by anyone, and most important anywhere.

The key features will be:

  • simple registration
  • easy setup (no advanced setting for the blog,we have to keep it simple and easy to use.)
  • integrated webring for dinamic linking through the hosted websites
  • Direct advertising possibilities (without an intermediate, you can directly sell ad-space 125×125 boxes )
  • Comments with anti-spam and mail notification

Like said before the idea is to avoid as many javascript as possible, no fancy ajax that will only cause problems in the future.

If you think this project could be really nice and have something to say about it, leave a comment or if you think you are a super genius in PHP/MySQL then you should definitely contact me and maybe we can work on this project together.
