All About Fonts : Part 1 : Top 5 Resources
As a designer, programmer, neo-blogger I know the importance of using the right font in the right place. The hunt for the right font and the most original fonts therefor is an ongoing battle between top designers. Myself on the other hand like to use fonts that represent myself in some way. the headers from the sidebox on this blog have the “FatBoy Slim” font, I like his music! My previous theme header had the Marlboro font because I used to smoke, I quit recently.
Anyway! I want to say something about every aspect regarding font, but in this post I’m going to limit to the best resources that are around, not the biggest ones, the nicest one. The criteria is simple, usability, and simplicity. Everyone hates to click through 3/4 pages before getting what you need, and I fill in under everyone… do you? Okay here we go!

UrbanFonts My Absolute number one!
- Best collection of font ,and a very large one
- New fonts are added on daily basis.
- All font are tagged and categorized by style/appearance and that makes this website special
- Nice Font preview on mouse over image
- Simple download (without having to go to another page)
- Dingbats… They have Dingbats!!

TypeNow Second just after UrbanFonts
- Vast collection of fonts
- Free and Paid fonts, well separated so you can browse the free stuff without any trouble
- Best feature is the selection of themed fonts, from movies, products, billboards and so on.
- Fast download by clicking on the small preview image.

DownloadFreeFonts.com way behind 1st and 2nd, but hey you are expecting a top 5
- Large Collection of Font.
- Grouped on pages by letter.
- Simple download by clicking on font preview.

FontFreak just 4th. They have an annoying click through index… I spare you that beredom and linked directly to the first font page!
- Large Collection of fonts
- Grouped on pages by letter, there are sub pages but Iwonder if anyone noticed since the links are very small and not directly visible.
- Simple download by clicking on links beside image.

WebPagePublicity is struggling to keep up with the others.
- Large Collection of Fonts
- grouped on pages by letter , with subpages
- Download by klicking on the link, files are not zipped and therefor you can install them a little faster.
And this it THE top 5 font resources list! I hope the list is/was usefull to you and will save you time looking for fonts and will allow you to spent more time on design! You might want to subscribe to my feed because there are 4 more articles coming about fonts.
And if you really enjoyed this post be nice and stumble, digg, fave, clip or whatever-it ! Thank you!

Thanks for these links! I’m a font-a-holic from way back during my PSP days of making tags and on into creating stationery. I also make EOT webfonts (although that is going the way of the dinosaur now that IE is becoming more compliant to web standards) which I used in stationery, but made web ones as well.
Now that I’m selling EntreCard custom cards, I’ll need even more fonts than the 25,000 or so I already have
This was a timely post for me! Thanks!
