Stop falling for the “Make Money Online” website

There is a slight chance this post will make some people angry, but some things just have to be said!

Since some geeks started to write about making money online they are receiving an huge amount of visitors or wannabee’s. Because lets face it, who doesn’t want to make an “huge amount of money” read that as “an little extra” while sitting behind his/her computer in their underwear..
Sadly this is possible for just an handful of persons. the rest of the make-money websites are part of an vicious circle, people who think the can make money like the bigshot’s have done, find out they can’t and disappear again.

There is a way to make money though.
First of all you have to know what you are talking about, you have to write about something and be consistent in what you write about, be creative make friends and show yourself on other websites/communities and blog’s this way your “visitors by accident” have an actual reason to come (back) to your website.

So before you start to blog you have to think about what to blog about, what are your skills, hobbies, interests. In my case I have been programming php/mysql for over 8 years now, and therefor decided to start to blog about that and add tutorials and scripts for visitors to use, beside that I write about what I think is really important and that need some highlighting for instance my recent post about Technorati showing adult-rated advertisement . News that is uncommon and somewhat related what you stand for.

Making money for people who already have a blog and a nice amount of daily visitors, lets say 150/200 unique hits, then you actually have a chance to make some money online, by placing ads with google adsense or affiliate programs like NeverBluAds, RocketProfit or Linkworth of course these are just a couple there are about 20/30 programs or even more to choose from, I don’t know them all because frankly I don’t care.
yes I have ads on my website, I have chosen for ad-space for sale using ProjectWonderfull, this seems to be an reasonable project allowing visitors who like your website or have common interest to add a link to there website for a minimum fee you set.
Beside of that I’m using NeverbluAds for some banners between some posts and in the sidebar.

My winnings in 2 weeks of time? A little more than, $0.12 Cents with google adsense, 0.98 Cents with ProjectWonderfull and Nothing from NeverBluAds. (I have made about $1000 from google the last 4 years, on various websites, it is not much but I paid my hosting with it,and got myself an nice “photo camera”, and an “Creative Zen W” ).

Do you care?
No I don’t!

Why?
My blog is new, about 1 month old, the posts that are more than 1 month old I have taken from an previous blog I owned. New websiteshave to fight their way up into ranking systems, you also have to submit them to search engines, like google, alexa and yahoo .

Do you expect to gain more in the future?
Eventually, yes, but I would be happy with about $10 a month just enough to pay my server and domain names I own. IF I am going to make more out of it, than I’m fully satisfied. Remember you have to blog because you like to do it and not because you want to make it an goldmine.

Can I make money online?
Everyone can but it is not as easy as it looks, don’t buy programs that someone wrote about, claiming that you can earn money online over-night without doing nothing. or by paying online programs who claim they will make you millionaires in a year. The only person who can make that million is the person you payed for their so called money-making program, the person who should make you rich but likes to fill it’s own pockets. “In order for someone to get rich without working, someone else has to become poor.”

What do you suggest ?
I suggest direct advertising, cut out the middle-man and offer space for advertisement directly from your website, write an static page about the pricing for an ad-space and include an email so people can inquire on it. there are some plugins for wordpress to do this, like IOIpublisher
this plugin is not free, but a really nice, I have seen it in action, and really worth the one-time $37. I’m planning to get it, once I have “made” the money to afford it, can take 1 month can take 6 months.

What can we believe from MMO Blog’s?
Some SEO tips are correct,

  • 1) Using keywords the right way can get you some more traffic, and can increase your Google pagerank just make sure your keywords are related to your content, if you write about many different subject your keywords become less relevant thus lower your pagerank.
  • 2) SiteMap specially dynamic generated sitemap’s that are updated after each article/post will help search engines to index your website.
  • 3) DMOZ.org is THE biggest directory online, and many search engines do refer to them for indexing.
  • 4) Promote your website ! If you register at social community websites like BlogCatalog , you can join groups and promote your website for free, there are many similar websites. Pick them wisely, don’t join to many at once, just pick a few , and expand or change if you are not satisfied with them.
  • 5) Social Bookmarks try to your readers to add your article to their social bookmarks, like digg, delicious, StumbleUpon and there is an huge selection to go with, just pick a few. (go with the big ones!

99,9% the other promises they make are to make you think you are about to get rich, but in the end you won’t. You’re not, they will.

But how do the get rich?
Easy, many programs  pay commission  fees for referrals, thus when you click on a link to an promotion/program and you sign up they will get an fee or an percentage of whatever you made with your website. So if 10.000 people signup on the websites I said before using those links I could actually become rich.

Are free blog hosts bad?
Well, “BAD” is not quite the right word, they ain’t that reliable. Take blogger for instance, they have the right and power to cancel your blog without having any reason, so one click on the button and all your stories gone in a click, and this applies to almost all of the free hosting companies around. You should get a domain and some hosting. Paid hosting can be easy to, I’m hosting on Dreamhost and I must say that I’m quite pleased with them, they offer an super easy one-click-install so you can have your blog running within 10 minutes after your account and domain are active. If you’re lucky you can be online in less than 1 hour with new domain and blog.

Conclusion
holy Cows! You actually managed to get through the whole article? I thought I lost you somewhere around “do you care?” My Compliments!
Anyway, making money online easy and quick is not possible, and you should be skeptic about it, don’t trust them and don’t make them rich by being stupid, money doesn’t grow on your back, and hard earned money shouldn’t be waisted on people who think they can outsmart you.

Well thank you for reading, Oh and btw, if you plan to get your domain go with Dreamhost I do recommend them and if you use my Promotional Code “EZIONSEBA” (without the quotes), you get a $50,00 discount on the orriginal $119,00 and the domain registration is free! so do your math and it comes to an sweet $69.00 .. no joke no catch, just try the setup page and you will see for yourself!

One last thing, I know you wanna leave, but feel free to leave a comment. or add me to your social bookmarks! (I’d appreciate it)

yeah you’re right sebastiano, but not money making programs are bad.
the chances one has to go to forums like warrior forums digital point forms to ask for reviews before buy or join… that way is most safe I suppose…
