Me & Telnet
Woosh today I got back at telnet and have to say “Oh my god!” I forgot everything, and I used to hack the other computers back at school to get the homework from my classmates.. lol.. anyway, yes it was weird, I was fully convinced that I still could use it like I did a few years ago.. but I was completely wrong about that….
While staring at the black “putty” screen I was like omg where am I, what directory, first thing that came in mind was “help”, didn’t work, so after some reflection “–help” did the trick.
Then I had to find a way to delete a folder filled with other files and folders…. yeah easy right, as a windows user you might think of shift delete and everything is gone, but on a *nix system its different, if you don’t have the rights it can’t be done, well it should be that way, but here is a trick I remember from the old-school-days , “rm -r -f FOLDERNAME” or basically “remove recursively and dont ask me any confermation this folder with anything in it,just do it!”
oh and another very frustrating issue… my italian keyboard does not have “tilde”, wait let me show you (have to open the character map from windows). ah, here it is! ~ <- Tilde ..
