How to Turn Lead into Gold
Yes it is actually possible to turn Lead in to Gold like the fable’s told us.
Here is why : Lead has an atomic number of 82. Gold however has an atomic number of 79. Now we just need to extract 3 protons from the lead element and we end up having our gold. So whats the problem ? lets go make it, no? Well Lead is a very stable element, forcing it to release 3 protons requires a vast input of energy, this means the cost of this process surpasses the actual value of gold.
There is an earlier report (1972) in which Soviet physicists at a nuclear research facility near Lake Baikal in Siberia accidentally discovered a reaction for turning lead into gold when they found the lead shielding of an experimental reactor had changed to gold.
Well don’t start running to your science set and try to build your own nuclear generator. think about it, what are you going to do with the nuclear waste??
or where are you going to get your Plutonium now days..
